First Appointments at Shankill Bank Dental Practice
On your first visit to the practice the reception staff will welcome you and ask you to fill in some paperwork such as a medical history before you see the dentist. It is important that you either know all the names of medications you take or bring a list, arriving 5-10 minutes early will give you time to complete the paperwork first.
The dentist will check your medical history and ask about any problems you may be having and carry out a thorough examination. This would normally include assessment of teeth, gums and other areas of your mouth. Usually as a new patient x-rays will be taken to allow a full assessment. You should find out in advance how long the appointment is likely to take and how much it will cost you.
Once the examination is done the dentist will discuss what, if any, treatment can be provided and a treatment plan/estimate can be organised. If you are registering as an NHS patient please bring your medical card with you, not just the number. Without the actual card you cannot be registered.
